The arrival of the world's largest passenger airliner, an Emirates Airlines A380 Airbus, marks the 70th anniversary of Birmingham International Airport, formerly Elmdon Airport, and the opening of a new international pier. Thousands of people turned out to view the aircraft.The A380 arrived from Dubai and returned later in the afternoon.
Several classic aircraft flew in for the occasion.
