... except I think there were a few more people at the Isle of Wight in 1970, I think so.

ROTUNDA UNDRAPED! 6/6/06

Remember the outcry when the ugliest eye-sore ever to grace Birmingham's skyline was built? And now, if you suggest to any Brummie that Rotunda should be demolished.. there will be another outcry!
Anyway, it's being converted into luxury flats (which I suspect have already been sold). For those of you at the furthest outreaches of the commonwealth who can't readily visit Birmingham, here is what it looks like during the conversion. The photograph was taken from the junction of High Street and Carrs Lane.
When we lived in Nechells one of my daughters called it the "Coca-Cola Building" because of the huge illuminated sign at the top.. sadly that's gone too.

HP SAUCE

It is not the purpose of this blog to take any form of political or social stance. As such I cannot make suggestions to readers that they boycott ALL Heinz Sauce products if Heinz move the HP Sauce production abroad. Nor can I suggest that they ask the pubs, clubs and restaurants that they visit to do the same. If I think of anything else that I cannot suggest, I will tell you. All I can say is that I wish all the HP workers and people fighting on their behalf good luck and success!!!!!

Peter Turner's back-to-back photos.

This is the first of two images sent in by Peter Turner of housing in the Aston area. The photographs were taken shortly before they were demolished in 1972. They are believed to be near Gt Lister Street.
The images were scanned from slides.
Click on them to enlarge.
The second of the images.
